As a kid a team called Bedgrove Dynamos near Aylesbury.

I joined Watford aged 11 and stayed 16 years.

How did club notice you :-

They sent a scout to our game, we won comfortably which meant nothing for me to do, thankfully our manager recommended me and I was given a trial the following week.

When was your debut and against which club :-

Preston North End as a 20 year old, we lost 1-0 but I got man of the match. Didn’t sleep much that night !

Have you played for any other clubs other than first club and current club :-

I had a spell on loan at Blackburn Rovers, enjoyed it but didn’t break into the team, returning to Watford once loan was up.

When and how did you join current club :-

Summer 2010, I wanted first team football which Watford couldn’t promise me. I had a friend at Brentford who arranged a meeting with the manager, they made an offer soon after.

What has been highlight of your career so far :-
Several stand out, playing in a FA Cup Semi-Final against Manchester United, beating Everton in the Carling Cup, saving 3 penalties in a row with match live on Sky TV and playing for England U18 but making my debut was probably the biggest buzz.

Have you received international recognition :-
I played for England at Under 18 & Under 20 level and was unused substitute several times for Under 21s.

Have you won any medals in professional football :-

FA Premier Reserve League Winner with Watford.

JPT Trophy Runners Up Medal with Brentford.

What advice would you give young players starting out in football :-

Watch and imitate the best. If you want it bad enough then push yourself to the limit in every avenue, physically, mentally, tactically and technically. No excuses, no comparisons, be the best you can possibly be and enjoy the process of becoming that.

Do you collect football programmes or football memorabilia :-

Yes, I collect shirts of players I have played against.

Edwin Van Der Saar, Ben Foster, Shay Given & Brad Friedel are some of my shirts.

I frame my personal shirt from each season with signatures from all the lads and any programme has significance to me.

What are your interests outside football :-

I spend much of my free time on my passion – goalkeeping. I have set up what I intend to be a somewhat revolutionary project in GK Icon, we have keeper schools throughout the country and aim to raise the standard of goalkeeping in the UK.

Our website is

I also run a headwear business that famously featured in Dragons Den – Also I enjoy Golf.

What would be ultimate ambition in football :-

I want to play in the Premier League again and win a major trophy.

I’m 28 so time is still on my side.
